화면은 물리적으로, 개념적으로 점차 공간화되고 있다. 폴더블 폰은 x와 y로 이루어진 고정된 화면비에 z라는 변수를 더했고, 혼합 현실은 장소를 가리지 않고 시선이 향하는 곳곳에 화면을 출력한다. 애플이 지난 2월 출시한 비전 프로를 ‘공간 컴퓨터(Spatial Computer)’라고 소개하는 것도 비슷한 맥락에서다.
하지만 공간화된 화면을 활용하는 방식은 이전과 크게 다르지 않다. 폴더블 폰은 이름이 무색하게 ‘접을 수 있는(foldable)’의 효용이 무엇인지를 명확하게 설명하지 못한다. 경계가 없는 혼합 현실에서는 16:9 비율의 직사각형 프레임이 되살아난다. 새로운 미디어에 알맞은 시각 언어는 어떤 형태일까? 또한, 그것은 오래된 미디어를 참조하지 않을 수 있을까?
윤충근은 이번 레지던시에서 포에버✰ 공간을 3차원의 화면으로 전환하고 화면 안쪽(screenterior)을 매일 새로 구성한다. 가로 8m, 세로 3m, 높이 2.5m에 이르는 화면은 표준을 벗어난 비례와 효율에 반하는 형태로 구획된다. 이러한 시도는 화면 안쪽의 견고한 힘의 질서를 무너뜨리며 화면을 인식하고 활용하는 다른 방식을 제안한다.

The screen is gradually becoming more and more spatialized physically and conceptually. Foldable phones add a variable z to the aspect ratio of x and y, and mixed reality displays screens everywhere you look regardless of location. In a similar context, Apple introduces the Vision Pro as a ”Space Computer.“
However, the method of utilizing spatialized screens is not much different from before. Foldable phones do not clearly explain what the utility of ‘foldable’ is. In mixed reality without boundaries, a 16:9 ratio of rectangular frames is revived. What form of visual language would be suitable for the new media? Also, could it not refer to old media?
In this residency, Choong-geun Yoon converts the Forever✰ space into a three-dimensional screen and constructs a new screenterior design every day. Screens measuring 8m wide, 3m long, and 2.5m high are divided into proportions that deviate from the standard and forms that are contrary to efficiency. These attempts break down the solid order of power inside the screen and propose other ways to recognize and utilize the screen.
